FMM Fourth in Forres

Field Marshal Montgomery finished fourth at the European Pipe Band Championships, held on Saturday 28th June in Forres, Moray.

The band performed their “Rowd’s Hornpipe” medley.

Weather conditions proved challenging for pipe corps across the grades. A cold and wet start to the morning quickly turned into a warm and humid afternoon. Nevertheless, PM Richard Parkes MBE and his team drew on their experience and the band earned two firsts in piping.

Speaking after the contest, Richard Parkes commented, “It was a tough day at the office but overall I am delighted with how all elements of the band are shaping up this year. Congratulations to Inveraray and District on their victory.”

Drum Sergeant Keith Orr added, “Firstly, congratulations to St Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band on winning best drum corps yesterday. I was very happy with how we performed but now the hard work only intensifies as we build up to the Worlds.”

Congratulations to FMM’s Drum Major Samantha Gordon who finished 3rd in the Adult Final.

Forres has established itself as one of the best competitions on the pipe band calendar. This year was no exception, and the band would like to express their thanks to the PipingHot! Festival and contest organisers on another stellar event.
