FMM Pipe Sergeant Wins Northern Meeting

Alastair Dunn won the prestigious Northern Meeting Gold Medal for Piobaireachd in Aviemore, Scotland on 31 August, 2006. Considered as one piping's holy grails, the Highland Society of London's Gold Medal was competed for by an entry of 30 of the world's top soloists. The result completes a fantastic year for Alastair. Many congratulations from the band.


Champion of Champions Success At Cowal

FMMPB won third prize at the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon on Saturday 26 August, 2006.  The band won the Champion of Champions award for having collected the most championship points - 27 in total during the 2006 competition season. The band won three firsts, a second and yesterdays third place to take the much sought after trophy.

This year's achievement has been particularly special, considering the band has introduced a considerable number of new players to the ranks. Congratulations to everyone in the band for all of the hard work throughout the season.


Fifth World Title For FMMPB

Band members celebrate winning the 2006 World Pipe Band Championships

The band won the coveted World Pipe Band Championships on Saturday 12 August, 2006 at a sun-soaked Glasgow Green. Pipe Major Richard Parkes MBE lifted the RSPBA Jubilee Trophy for the fifth time in he band's history, beating off tough competition from a strong line up of close contenders. Everyone in the organisation is rightly delighted with the result. Our drum major Alastair Patterson made it two firsts for FMMPB by winning the Adult Drum Major World Championship - another fantastic achievement. Congratulations to all of the and members and supporters for their commitment and dedication.

BBC Scotland filmed the days events and also interviewed Pipe Major Richard Parkes MBE for  television broadcast that will be aired on Sunday 3 September, 2006.

Once the celebrations subside, the band will prepare for the last championship of the season which will take place in Dunoon on Saturday 26 August, 2006.


Band Takes Second Place At European Championships

FMMPB took runners-up spot at the European Pipe Band Championships in Greenock on 29 July, 2006. The band had to endure poor weather conditions during preparation and competition but still gained two first places in piping. Well done to everyone for a great effort on the day.


All Ireland Title Stays With FMM

The band well on it's way to winning the 2006 All Ireland Pipe Band Championships

FMMPB won their 17th All Ireland Championship in 18 years at Letterkenny on Saturday 2 July, 2006 - a tremendous achievement. Changeable weather conditions were a challenge for the band however they received a first place from all piping judges. The band will take a short break before preparing for the World Championships, starting with the European Championship in Greenock at the end of the month.


FMM Wins British Championships

FMMPB won a second successive major championship of the season by taking the British Pipe Band Championships in Pitlochry. The band emerged as winners from a tough MSR competition to maintain a clean sheet of results in 2006. The result cements the band's position at the top of the Champion of Champions leaderboard after two outings. Congratulations to everyone in the band on their great result.


Good Run Of Form For McCready

Gordon McCready has been doing the rounds at the highland games winning numerous prizes. At Blair Atholl and Markinch he won the MSR events and finished runner-up in the open Piobaireachd events. At Bathgate he once again won the MSR event and finished third in the open Piobaireachd.


On A High In County Down

The band continued their good run of form by winning the County Down Championships at Banbridge. Winning both MSR and Medley events with firsts from all judges, the band now looks forward to the British Championships in Pitlochry.


Band Wins Scottish Championships

On the line at the 2006 Scottish Pipe Band Championships

FMMPB won the 100 Pipers Scottish Pipe Band Championships at Dumbarton on a soaking wet 20 May, 2006. The band emerged as champions despite pouring rain and muddy conditions at a usually fair venue. Congratulations to the band members on a magnificent effort and especially to all of our new members on winning their first major championship. The band's next championship outing is to Pitlochry in June.
