Occupation: Director of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland

Some facts about Alisdair:

  • Alisdair started piping at the age of 14 with his school band, Trinity College. Alisdair was employed with the Western Australia Police for 11 years prior to emigrating and is a former Pipe Major of the band. He guested for 3 seasons with Strathclyde Police Pipe Band before joining FMM in 2009.
  • His tutors were Malcolm Brown and John MacMurchie and he considers Victoria Police Pipe Band to be one of his major piping influences.
  • Alisdair’s favourite medley selections are Victoria Police 1994 & 1997 and FMM 1993 & 2004.

  • His favourite composers are Mark Saul, Ryan Canning and the late Gordon Duncan.
  • During his younger years Alisdair was a Western Australian State Triathlon Champion and still enjoys actively keeping fit although misses running along the golden beaches of Perth!

  • Alisdair’s favourite food is a good ol’ Aussie BBQ and he is partial to an ice cold Crown Lager.
