Some facts about Alex:

• Alex previously played with the 78th Highlanders (Halifax Citadel) Pipe Band and Dartmouth & District Pipe Band.

• His favourite solo pipers are his father Bruce Gandy, Roddy MacLeod MBE, John Patrick and Glenn Brown, while his favourite solo drummer is Blair Brown.

• Alex’s main tutor has always been his father Bruce, however his grandfather Ron Rollo has always helped him out and he is currently receiving tuition from Roddy MacLeod whilst living in the UK.

• His main piping influences are his mum, dad and grandparents.

• Alex is a regular solo competitor and has won a 2nd in the MacGregor Memorial in 2005, 1st in Strathspey & Reel in Perth in 2006, 1st in the Hornpipe & Jig in London 2006 and 1st in the Piobaireachd at the Duncan Johnstone Memorial in 2006.

• Alex states that his favourite food is Chinese, Italian, steak, peanut butter and cereal (but we hope not all at once!)
