Some facts about Mark:
- Mark started piping at the
age of 9 and was taught by Norman McCutcheon and Lenny Browne.
- Mark had already proven himself as an established piper at a very young age,
winning his status as a senior player on the Northern Ireland solo scene by
the age of 18.
- Mark’s previous bands include the Graham Memorial Pipe Band, Battlehill Pipe
Band, and the Pipes & Drums of the Royal Ulster Constabulary, of which he
was the pipe major of all three, winning several majors with Battlehill and
leading the RUC for a successful seven years from 1992-1998.
- Mark’s favourite FMM performance was at the World Championships in 2002.
- His favourite piping composers are G. S. MacLennan and Ryan Canning.
- Major influences on his piping career include the 78th Fraser Highlanders of
1987, Strathclyde Police in their later years and our very own Richard
Parkes.
